Shri Yudhvir Singh Malik, Chairman, NHAI
 

Mr. Y.S. Malik, an Officer from the 1983 batch of Indian Administrative Service (Haryana Cadre), joined the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as Chairman on 28th November, 2016, where he is the overall incharge of development, operation and maintenance of National Highways across India. Prior to joining NHAI, he worked as Additional/Special Secretary in the NITI Aayog from 24th September, 2015 to 27th November, 2016. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) from 20th October, 2014 till 23rd September, 2015. Mr. Malik worked on various initiatives in the FSSAI, including putting the process of Product Approvals on fast track, finalisation of draft standards of various food products and food additives and regulations. He activated the enforcement functions of the Food Regulator during his tenure with the FSSAI.

Mr. Malik served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He was the Project leader for implementation of one of the most successful and comprehensive e-Governance Projects i.e. MCA21 of the Government of India, for which he was also awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration. The MCA21 program is the single most important vehicle in completely transforming the landscape of service delivery for the Corporate Sector in India. Having been recognized as a Path-breaking IT initiative for the year 2006; all registry related services have been brought on-line with the implementation of this project. The Ministry digitized 45 million sheets of legacy records which are getting enriched on an ongoing basis with all documents being filed on-line since September 16, 2006. Company documents can be viewed on-line by the citizens from the comfort of their offices or homes, anytime anywhere. Compliance rate marked a remarkable improvement. It has added a significant value to the cause of Corporate Governance for various stakeholders in the country. Mr. Malik was also responsible for the work relating to Corporate Governance and Investor Education in the Ministry.

Mr. Malik has worked in different capacities in his civil service career spanning over 33 years, the notable among which are his stints in the Finance Department of the State Government in various capacities for about 7 years, the power sector where he led the World Bank sponsored restructuring and reform programme, and as Managing Director of the State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation where he conceptualized and developed one of the best known industrial townships of India, the Industrial Model Township at Manesar. Subsequently, he played a leading role for industrialisation of Haryana during 2008 to 2014 as the Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Mines and IT of the State before coming to the Government of India.
